A new operating software, a better camera and a few more
bells and whistles are the drawing features for the newest version of the
iPhone from Apple. However, the most intriguing new feature is the programmable
fingerprint security option. The new iPhone5S has the capability to lock out
any potential user whose finger print is not programmed into the phone. There
is a five fingerprint limit on this feature. WOW! Star Trek features in today’s
market!
This technology wave is certainly challenging those of us in the
generation who grew up using a phone that was attached to a wall and had a long
cord to allow us to walk around with the handset. The thought of a ‘car phone’
or a ‘mobile phone’ when I was growing up was nothing more than science fiction
nonsense.
This technology is basically for security purposes where the owner
can program in upto 5 fingerprints capable of opening up the phone for use. Any
other fingerprints would not be able to open the phone, thus relegating the
phone as useless if stolen. What Apple is shooting for is to discourage and
hopefully eliminate iPhone theft by individualizing each phone with its own
fingerprint.
This got me to thinking about our Christian walk. We each
have our own unique walk in Christ, our own story upon which we can share the
Gospel with others. In other words, we each have a relationship with Christ
that bears the ‘fingerprint’ of our life! Our salvation experience is unique to
us…just as unique as our fingerprint… there is NO OTHER like it! We all have a
unique story to tell about how Jesus has reached into our lives and touched our
heart and soul with His love and mercy. We all have a story that is ours and
ours alone about how God changed us and how God’s grace and mercy have saved
us.
What this means for us as believers is that when it comes to the security
of the salvation we have in Christ Jesus, there is no one who can lay claim to that
salvation, it is ours and ours alone. Paul tells us in his letter to the church
in Rome, “…38 For I am persuaded that not even death or life, angels or rulers, things
present or things to come, hostile powers, 39 height or depth, or any other
created thing will have the power to separate us from the love of God that is
in Christ Jesus our Lord!”
Our salvation is secure because ‘in Christ’ we are sealed by
the Holy Spirit. We have been adopted as the sons and daughters of Christ. Just
like our own fingerprint, our salvation is unique to us and cannot be taken
away! We are sealed by the Holy Spirit for the Day of the Lord and in that
promise we can rest assured and know that God will never let us go! What a
promise! If you are impressed with the iPhone’s new security features I am sure
that you will agree that the security features of Jesus our Savior are far and
away better than anything Apple could generate!
Stay true and always seek Him!
